Buffalo check is popping up everywhere this season! It’s not a new pattern, but it sure has gained popularity once again over the last couple of years. I bought a yard of fabric the other day and have made a few projects for fall, I love how the simple pattern blends with fall colors in my home. Today I’m sharing a buffalo check fall sign made with fabric, vinyl and a thrift store frame.
Watch how I made this buffalo check fall sign
Here are the supplies you will need to make a sign like this one – this list contains affiliate links, view my full disclosure policy here.
- Buffalo check fabric – consider using a scarf or old shirt if you have one
- Wood frame – no glass required!
- Heat Transfer vinyl – I used Texas orange
- Gather Together Cut File
- Pressing cloth
- Weeding Tools
- Spray glue – I love this gorilla glue
- Sand paper
I started with a thrift store frame, I removed the glass and backing and lightly sanded the wood to help it accept paint. Then I painted the frame with a light coat of white chalk paint and set it aside to dry.
Next, I cut the words “Gather Together” from Texas orange heat transfer vinyl using my Silhouette. I used a script font I liked and sized it to fit the frame opening. After weeding the vinyl, I ironed the words onto the fabric.
To put this buffalo check fall sign together I used spray glue to adhere the fabric to the cardboard backing then secured it in the frame.
I love the contrast of orange on the black and white background, this sign is going to work so well with the oranges and reds in my fall decor this year.
Be sure to pin this post and save it for later!
