A beautiful canvas you can make without picking up a paint brush. This canvas paper art is easy to make using your Silhouette and some brightly colored paper. Read below for the full tutorial plus check out other paper inspired projects from some of my friends at the end of this post.
As an avid crafter I see many things as a blank canvas. I have found ways to dress up anything from an old coffee can to a discarded piece of wood. But nothing really compares to a real crisp white canvas, there are so many possibilities! I buy my canvas in bulk, I snap them up at Michael’s where there is a good sale so I always have one on hand when inspiration strikes. I was planning on making a summer wreath with bright peonies but decided that I have so many wreaths already, I should look to create something different. Instead I pulled out a blank canvas and added a paper wreath to create this canvas paper art.

Supplies
- 9×12 canvas like this one
- Cardstock in green, orange, yellow, light and dark pink, and black
- Silhouette
- Glue
- Mounting squares
I used a few cut files from Craft Bundles. The wreath is a free download and the flowers were part of the April bundle. Their monthly bundles are full of awesome graphics, if you are a crafter I encourage you to check out this month’s collection.
Using the Silhouette design software I set my canvas size to 9×12 and laid out all the pieces to see how it would look as a finished canvas. I like to color in my pieces on my computer before cutting them to see how the colors look together. When I was happy with the layout, I cut the pieces individually.
I glued the wreath, words and a few flowers to the canvas then used mounting squares to add a few more flowers to give the canvas paper art some dimension.
A bright paper floral wreath on a crisp white canvas is the perfect piece of art for summer. The method for making this is quite simple and I may be using this technique to make canvas paper art for other seasons as well.
