Dollar Store Floral String Art

This week I made a simple floral project using a very popular technique, but I created it with items from the Dollar Store!  This Dollar Store string art is on display in my office.  It looks amazing, and cost oh so little.  Get all the details plus 5 other beautiful floral Dollar Store projects from some friends of mine below.

I love the look of string art, the kind that requires wood and nails to create beautifully woven designs.  I fully intend to make this kind of string art soon, but today I’m showing you a version of string art using items from the Dollar Store.  This project was inspired by this month’s Dollar Store DIY theme, floral.  I teamed up with some friends to bring you simple and inexpensive floral projects from the Dollar Store.  Be sure to check out the projects at the end of this post.

Supplies:

  • Corkboard
  • Clear push pins
  • Bakers twine
  • Faux flowers
  • Hot glue gun

I started by adding push pins to my board in the shape of a vase, then wrapped bakers twine around the push pins.  I wanted to simulate a vase of flowers for this piece.

Next I added a heart to the middle and wrapped blue bakers twine around the outside and crisscrossing through the shape.

When I had a vase shape, with the right amount of twine wrapped around the pins, it was time to add the flowers.

I broke up my flower bunch and cut the stems so they would fit inside my vase.  Then I arranged them so they looked full and used a little hot glue to secure the stems together.

I used a push pin to attached the flowers to the board.  I wanted a little fuller look so I took a few extra blooms and hot glued them to the bottom of the first flower bunch.
