DIY Dollar Store Halloween Candy Bowl

I love a good Dollar Store project, don’t you? Let’s make a cute candy bowl for Halloween that will fit right in with your regular fall décor.

It’s one thing to buy a few decorations from Dollar Tree as is and use them in your home, but there is so much more you can do with these basic decorations to make unique crafts!

This Halloween candy bowl is made from 2 basic Dollar Tree items that looked a little boring, but with some paint and glue they look modern and so cool with my Halloween decorations this year.

Let me show you where this Halloween candy bowl started.

Halloween candy bowl supplies

An orange plastic themed bowl and a glass vase, 2 super basic Dollar Tree items that I grabbed knowing I could make something unique and pretty.  Glass vases can be found at the dollar store in all shapes and sizes. Try making a few of these candy bowls in different heights and colors.

I used a can of spray paint from my stash and took these 2 items outside and gave them a few coats of satin white.  Spraying tehse pieces white gives them a modern look that blends in nicely with my fall decor.

Consider a black glossy spray paint or even a fun metallic look. The options are endless. Just pick a paint that will stick to all surfaces like this one and spray both pieces with a few coats.

When the paint was dry on both pieces I attached the spider bowl to the vase to give it some height. I used E6000 to glue the bowl to the vase and held them in place with a heavy paint can for a few hours. This glue will create a permeant hold and keep the bowl from tipping over.

This simple Halloween candy bowl is filled with yummy dark chocolate and is part of a really light and not so scary Halloween display in my living room. It’s the perfect place for a little treat and an easy way to bring a little Halloween décor into my home.

I look forward to using this at the buffet table for our Halloween party too, it’s going to look great with my centerpiece.

Halloween decor doesn’t have to be scary or even use bright colors. Try black and white with subtle accent like this spider bowl. It definitely looks spooky without going over the top.
