Fall Leaf Garland

Share this post

Fall decor is never complete, can you relate?  I love this time of year and take every opportunity to create new pieces fitting for the season.  Fall crafting is one of my favorite activities this time of year, right up there with apple picking and crunching leaves under my boots.  Today I’m sharing a simple fall leaf garland made with colorful geometric paper.  It’s also time for this month’s Dose of DIY.  My friends are sharing beautiful fall decor and centerpieces as well, be sure to scroll through and check out their inspiring posts.

Fall leaf paper garland made with colorful geometric paper

Here is what I used to create this fall leaf garland:

  • Scrapbook paper
  • Jute
  • Silhouette and leaf design
  • Tape

I used a simple leaf design that I created for this project. Using the Silhouette software I was able to draw the shape, you can also download designs from the Silhouette store or trace an image as well.  This software makes it so easy to cut intricate shapes and make beautiful paper creations.  If you are making a holiday gift list, I encourage you to put a Silhouette on it.  It is my absolute favorite crafting {and business} tool, I use it multiple times a week.  I own the Portrait (shown below), it is small but a workhorse.  It comes with everything you need to get started, including the design software. {affiliate link}

Once the leaves were cut I taped them onto strings of jute.  These are 4 separate strings that I can space and move around depending on where I want to use them.  I am going to try and work these leaves into a Thanksgiving display next month.

I’m delighted to share more inspiring fall projects with you in this month’s Dose of DIY blog hop.  Be sure to click through to see the full posts from these lovely ladies.
