This is the time of year when cabin fever starts to set in around our house. My kids are itching to get outside and play but the weather doesn’t always cooperate. It’s warm one day and the kids can ride bikes, the next day we get a couple inches of snow. It’s now that I need to get creative with my kids and give them an outlet to run and play and get some wiggles out. This past week our family set up a few games and snacks in our basement to help remedy our collective cabin fever. A quick trip to Walmart was all I needed to get supplies and snacks for this fun afternoon. Take a look at the fun games we played that brought a smile to everyone’s face.
These games were inspired by Goldfish® crackers, a favorite snack in our house. The Snack That Smiles Back®. I picked up a couple containers of Goldfish crackers at Walmart and set out small cups to snack on during our games. Even more fun, we used the Goldfish crackers in our games.
I started by clearing a space in the basement then setting up a few simple game stations. These games can also be played outside when the weather cooperates.
Goldfish crackers on a spoon
Each family member held a spoon in their mouth and rested a Goldfish cracker on the end. Our goal was to get to the finish line without dropping the Goldfish cracker. There were a lot of giggles which resulted in many blunders, but that was the best part. Our goal with these games was to spark joy and bring smiles to everyone playing.
I used tape on the basement floor for this game. We took turns gently tossing a Goldfish cracker and jumping through the squares.
Hide and Seek
A go-to game for my kids. Our basement has a lot of nooks and crannies so we had a ton of fun with this one.
Finally, I set up an improvised version of ring toss using a plastic hoop and Goldfish crackers. We took turns standing in different places trying to toss our Goldfish crackers into the hoop.
If cabin fever has made its way into your house, head to the basement or garage and set up a few simple games using Goldfish crackers. Your family will laugh and burn some energy, a win for everyone.
Head to Walmart for your Goldfish crackers now, they are on rollback for $6.68 for a limited time. Tell me, how will you use Goldfish crackers to conquer cabin fever this month?
