Fall is in the air! I welcome the cool weather, changing leaves and delicious flavors. It’s only August but the cool weather this week has me thinking all things fall. With the season on my mind I created a faux chicken wire frame, something I’ve been eyeing up for a while, and added some simple embellishments for fall.

I love the look of a wood frame with chicken wire inside, it’s a bit rustic for my taste but none the less I knew I could make something like this a bit more modern to fit my decor.
I started with a wood frame from a thrift store and some chicken wire ribbon. My Mom was thoughtful enough to pick up some pretty craft supplies at a sale for me this summer and this faux chicken wire was among the items. I’ve had my eye on it for a few weeks and finally I figured out how to use it.
I painted my frame a light gray then cut a few pieces of the faux chicken wire and stapled it to the back of the frame. This faux chicken wire is flexible and thin enough to cut with a regular scissors, but rigid enough to hold a few light embellishments.
This basic chicken wire frame was pretty straightforward to make. I used colors that will work for fall and winter so I will be able to change up the embellishments on this frame in the months to come. I used two pieces of cardstock, die cut into frames, and hung them from the chicken wire with mini clothespins. You could write messages on the paper or cheat a cut words with your Silhouette like I did.
This faux chicken wire frame is my first official fall craft and it has opened the door to so much more! I absolutely love this time of year and can’t wait to share more craft ideas with you.
Tell me, what would you display on this chicken wire frame?
