Do you have state pride? I was born and raised in Wisconsin, my family and I call this state home and I definitely have state pride. There is so much to love about this state and I wanted to show it off a little in my home decor. I am not really into sports decor, although I love our home teams, that just doesn’t really fit my home. I chose instead to decorate a wood cut out and create this stand-out geometric wood state art.
I picked up this Wisconsin wood cut out at Walmart last week and knew inspiration would come to me. I toyed with the idea of a small heart over our hometown, or maybe a monogram. But when it came down to it I wanted something a little more bold.
Here is what I used to make this geometric wood state art.
- Wisconsin wood cut out
- DecoArt Americana Decor® Chalky Finish™ paint in light blue
- Chrome spray paint
- Painters tape
I painted the wood cut out blue, and once it dried I added a few stripes using painters tape.
After it was taped, I covered the remaining portion with newspaper before spray painting the stripes with metallic silver.
I let the paint dry for a bit then pulled the tape off at a 45-degree angle.
This Wisconsin art fits my decor perfectly. It looks great on my mantle but could be part of a gallery wall in my living room too.
Do you have an homage to your state in your house? I’d love to hear about it.
