Watch how I put these glow in the dark easter eggs together.

Every year I help organize a neighborhood Easter egg hunt.  We have a ton of little kids here so this is always a well loved and well attended event.  We hide eggs along the nature trail and throughout the playground then let the kids loose to find and claim their loot.  If the weather is nice we linger at the park and enjoy catching up with friends, we don’t see much of our neighbors during winter.

My kids absolutely love this egg hunt, and just treasure hunting in general.  I thought we could extend the fun a little with a glow in the dark easter egg hunt in our backyard later that evening.  These are so easy to make you are going to want to try it.  All you need are 2 supplies!

Plastic eggs, this is a good deal and they ship super fast.  The eggs lock together nicely too, I find that if I skimp and buy cheap eggs they tend to open up during the hunt.

Once you have the eggs, you will need these cute mini glow sticks.  I got 50 in this pack and it only takes 1 glow stick to make an egg glow.

To make glow in the dark easter eggs, gently crack the glow sticks and shake them.  And I mean gently, too much pressure and they will snap in half, ask me how I know!  These will glow brightly for 12 hours so you can make them ahead of time.  Then add 1 stick to each plastic egg, maybe 2 if you want a really bright color.  Then get hiding, you can do this in your backyard or just around the house.

I did a little test run with my kids by hiding 5 in their room that they had to find before bed.  They were so excited and can’t wait for the real thing on Easter.
