Around 5am last year I heard stirring in my daughter’s room. She finally came to wake me up at 6 then start the process of waking up her sister, not an easy task. When everyone was up, not necessarily awake, but standing, we all headed downstairs to see if Santa made an appearance. I had set the timer on the coffee pot so I poured a fresh cup and watched the Christmas magic happen.

This year I am going to set my coffee pot timer again but I’m going to take my morning brew up a notch with this hot white russian. A few added extras and some whipped cream will make a delicious sipping drink for Christmas morning.

Ingredients: 1 1/2 cups brewed coffee; 1/4 cup heavy cream; 1 oz Kahlua; 1 oz Vodka; Whipped cream for garnish

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups brewed coffee
1/4 cup heavy cream
1 oz Kahlua
1 oz Vodka
Whipped cream for garnish

Instructions

Combine coffee, heavy cream, kahlua and vodka in a saucepan and simmer until heated through. Stir continuously.
Pour into a mug and top with whipped cream.
Enjoy while warm.

Notes

Try substituting skim milk for cream to make a lighter version of this hot white russian.
