Make a Layered Vinyl St. Patrick’s Day Shirt

March 7, 2019 by Sarah Leave a Comment

With a holiday around the corner it’s the perfect time to make a themed t-shirt!  Not that you need an excuse for a custom shirt, but it helps.  I am going to show you how to make a layered vinyl St. Patrick’s Day Shirt that is perfect for your green celebration.

Last week I aired episode 1 of A Craft & A Cocktail on YouTube Live.  This is a fun live stream where I share a themed craft and cocktail, the first episode was all about St. Patrick’s Day.  I shared a fruity green drink inspired by this Halloween witches brew and a layered St. Patrick’s Day shirt.

A Craft & A Cocktail Episode 1 – St. Patrick’s Day

Here is what you need to make a layered vinyl St. Patrick’s Day shirt.

  • White t-shirt
  • Iron on vinyl in green plaid, mint and white.
  • Silhouette and weeding tools
  • Iron

Start by designing and laying out the different layers in the Silhouette design studio.  I cut a large shamrock from green plaid vinyl, then the word Lucky from white. I used the offset tool to create a background for the word and cut that from mint green vinyl.

This is the first time I’ve worked with printed iron on vinyl and I loved it!  The green plaid pattern is perfect for this St. Patrick’s Day shirt and the application was so easy.  Be sure to watch the video for all my tips on working with this type of heat transfer vinyl.

I ironed the green plaid shamrock onto the shirt first, then added the mint green background and finally the white word.  This St. Patrick’s Day shirt is ready to wear and will be the perfect accessory to a fun celebration.
