I have two daughters, 5 and 2, that love to help. No matter the task, they want to be involved and get their hands (and clothes) dirty. I came across some plain kids sized canvas aprons that I knew would be perfect for protecting my kids clothes from all the projects we do together. I’m sharing this little helper stenciled kids apron that I made using my Silhouette. Plus I have a BIG giveaway for you today, a heat press, and lots of other Silhouette fabric projects made by some very talented blogging friends of mine. Be sure to read all the way down to enter the giveaway and see more inspiring projects.

Here is what I used to create this kids apron
- Canvas apron
- Silhouette
- Freezer paper
- Iron
- Craft paint
- Paint brush
I used my Silhouette design studio to create and cut the words and images for this apron. I added Little Helper to the top and 4 tools to the bottom. Two of these I had in my Silhouette library and 2 images I used from Picmonkey. For the Picmonkey images, I saved them in a design then opened them in my Silhouette design studio. Then I traced the images which allowed me to cut them.
Once everything was sized correctly I cut the words and images out of freezer paper. Freezer paper is a wonderful tool that adheres to fabric when heated and creates a stencil with nice crisp lines.

I cut the freezer paper stencil with the shiny side down, this is the side that will adhere to the fabric.
I weeded out the unneeded parts then I ironed the stencils to the apron and began painting.

I like to use a sponge pouncer with very little paint, this ensures the paint doesn’t run under the stencil. After I finished painting I pulled up the freezer paper, which removes easily and cleaning, to reveal a crisp pretty painted apron.
