Halloween has passed and we are into November. Many people and retailers are in Christmas mode. I love Christmas, especially the anticipation and preparation, but won’t be getting in full swing until later this month. As a blogger I will be sharing some Christmas and winter items with you earlier than I would in my personal life, but I want to give you time to think and plan and create too!
Right now I am planning for and looking forward to Thanksgiving. Time with family, great food, and fall’s last hurrah. I created a set of metallic fall colored tea towels with Thanksgiving in mind.
These would be a nice hostess gift, or look pretty hanging in my kitchen this month. They are easy enough to make that I could keep a set and gift a set.
I started with a 6 pack of plain white tea towels from Target. I washed them first, and ironed out as many wrinkles as I could.
I used 3 metallic acrylic paints and fabric medium. I want to be able to use these towels and adding the fabric medium makes them washable. I mixed each color of paint 2:1 with the fabric medium. Then I used the eraser of a pencil to dot each color onto the towel. I wanted a confetti look that fades to the top.
I like how this looks in my kitchen! I may have to keep this set and make another one to gift to my gracious Thanksgiving dinner host.
Tell me, are you still in fall mode? Prepping for Thanksgiving or have you moved onto Christmas. No wrong answers, just curious.
Thanks for visiting!

These are so pretty, quick (at least it looks like it), and all around wonderful! I might be making some of these as gifts in the near future! I didn’t realize that you could just add the fabric medium to acrylic paints to do something like this. I’ve got tons of acrylic paints from painting on canvas, but wouldn’t have thought to use them on fabric! You learn something new everyday, I guess!
Yes they were quick and easy. So happy you learned something, think of all the possibilities! Have a great day Mary.
Cute idea. I’m thinking this would be great for our girls night in craft night.
Oh that would be fun.
Very cute! I have some tea towels that need a little something and this is the perfect idea! I haven’t ever painted on fabrics, so appreciate your tip on using the fabric medium. Love the metallic colors too!
Thank you so much Mandee, have fun creating!
Cute and really easy! Thanks for sharing at Monday Funday!
Love these!!! I will be making my set this weekend. Can’t wait!!
That’s wonderful Melissa!
That’s so cute and super easy! I need to do this!
