I have had plans to build a coffee table for our deck for years.  This week I finally got around to it!  I build a basic wood table then dressed it up with paint and a pretty stencil and it looks amazing on my deck.  Get all the details on how you can build your own outdoor coffee table here.

The plans for this Adirondack style outdoor coffee table are from Ana White.  I followed them almost to the letter and my table came out square and sturdy.  I love her projects and easy to follow plans.  If you want to jump into woodworking this is the place to start.

Once my table was built I made it my own with Decoart Americana Decor Outdoor Living Paint.  This paint gives a durable weather resistant finish that covered my table beautifully in 2 coats.

I used Picket Fence on the legs and apron of the outdoor coffee table and rock garden on the top.  This paint comes in 25 colors and wide mouth jars, great for dipping a larger sized brush into.  I was able to complete my project using just a portion of the containers I received.

The table needed a little something extra so I added a stencil to the corners.  This dandelion stencil is perfect for our home.  We let dandelions grow in our lawn and love the bees and bunnies they attract.  I can’t bring myself to kill them off with chemicals.  Once their season is over the seeds fly away and give way to a regular green lawn for the summer.  Some may see dandelions as an invasive weed but we love their color and all the creatures they attract.

To get a crisp stencil line I used a sponge pouncer and very little paint.  I dipped the sponge into the paint then dabbed off most of it onto a paper towel before applying it to the wood.  Too much paint on the sponge will result in bleeding under the stencil.

We christened the outdoor coffee table with burgers on the grill for dinner and wine at sunset.

Our house is up on a hill and we get a lot of wind up here, having this sturdy solid outdoor coffee table to anchor the rug is very nice.  I am looking forward to many summers on the deck enjoying this new piece.

I hope you are inspired to create something.  Definitely, check out this Outdoor Living paint and make something beautiful for your outdoor space this summer.

Thanks for visiting!
