The holiday weekend of the summer is upon us, Independence Day! I have been creating, sharing and dreaming about all things red white and blue these past few weeks and today I have one more very simple dessert idea for you. This one you can whip up in minutes and take it to whatever picnic or party you are attending this weekend. So before you check out for the holiday, read this post and make these chocolate dipped patriotic cookies for your celebration.
These cookies require 3 ingredients and a red plate, that’s it. You probably have everything you need in your pantry already, so whip up a batch of these patriotic cookies and impress some party goers.
Chocolate Dipped Patriotic Cookies
Ingredients:
- Sandwich cookies (any color or brand will do)
- White chocolate wafers or chips
- Blue food coloring
- Cookie sheet
- Wax paper
- Red plate
Melt equal parts of the white chocolate in 2 separate containers, I used microwave safe glass and heated my chocolate at 30-second intervals in the microwave.
Next, add blue food coloring to one of the bowls of chocolate. Mix until smooth.
Dip cookies half way into the chocolate and lay them on wax covered cookie sheet. Freeze for 10 minutes to harden.
Once the chocolate is hard, transfer the blue and white cookies to a red plate and serve them up in style. Add a few red white and blue patriotic props if you’d like.
These cookies will be gone in no time, who doesn’t love a sandwich cookie with a little added chocolate.
I hope you have a fabulous and safe 4th. If you have a little more time and want to make some patriotic drinks for the holiday take a look at these.
