My children ask to paint just about every day. And who can blame them, painting is a blast. It’s messy and creative and something they don’t get to do very often. I’ve given in quite a bit lately, even though the mess is pretty epic because their smiles and pride in their work are just priceless. We tried a new technique this week that my girl’s loved and I think your kids will too. This rainbow sponge paint is a craft that both my 2 year old and 5 year old can particiate in to create something unique and colorful.
This quick video sums up the rainbow sponge paint tecnique in a nutshell.
For this project you need:
- Paint Brush
Start by getting the sponge wet and squeezing out all of the excess water. Then paint colors onto the long thin edge of the sponge and let your kids get creative. They can carefully swipe the sponge across the paper to make a rainbow, or they can roll the sponge to make a swirl.
After making a few carefully crafted rainbows, it’s fun to let them get creative and see what they come up with. Sometimes that’s the best part about crafting with kids, their imaginations come up with the best creations.
Do you paint with you kids? I’d love to hear about the creations you have made.
