ResinCrete is an eco-friendly alternative to resin crafting that is super easy to use and incredibly versatile. Let’s take a look at this product, walk through how to use it, and I’ll share a few projects.

What is ResinCrete

This new product is a way for you to experience resin-like crafting without the lengthy curing times or chemical exposure. ResinCrete is a mineral based formula that looks and feels more like plaster but with the durability of epoxy resin.

The company engineered this product to be a safe alternative to resin crafting. It allows you to mold unique products in just 30 minutes. Pigment can be added as well as chips or glitter flakes to create beautiful pieces.

When crafting with epoxy resin, a product I use and enjoy, I need to be careful where and how I work. I ensure my room is well ventilated, I wear a mask, gloves and protect all surfaces. Once poured, epoxy resin must cure for 24 hours.

With ResinCrete I like that I can create without all the prep work. The powder is mineral based and contains zero VOCs. There is no odor either. The powder just mixes with water and is then poured into a mold and can be removed in 30 minutes.

Easy crafting is very appealing, sometimes it’s nice to be able to create something in one sitting and not have to wait a day or more for my finished project.

ResinCrete Kit

A kit is always a good way to begin with any new product. I received this kit with everything I need to create a number of projects.

contents of ResinCrete kit

The kit includes

  • ResinCrete powder
  • 3 molds
  • 5 pigments
  • 2 mixing cups
  • 4 pieces of sandpaper
  • Scoop for powder
  • Stirring stick
  • Gloves

The instructions are simple and spelled out on the back of the bag. Scroll down for my step by tutorial to create your first project.

You will need a scale to measure the powder and water by weight, an accurate measurement is important for a solid final product. I used my kitchen scale for these creations. The ratio of powder to water is 10:1 and it’s best to measure in grams.

Tips for working with ResinCrete

Before you start a project, have everything ready. Once you mix the powder with water, the working time is only 8 minutes and it starts to set fast.

When the piece is demolded and dry, you can seal this product to make it waterproof. I have used a gloss varnish to give it a shiny look. However, these pieces hold up just fine without any sealing.

You could also paint or add embellishments to the pieces once they are finished. I added an initial to this heart with a gold acrylic paint pen.
