Silver Tipped Book Page Wreath

Silver Tipped Book Page Wreath

I started decorating for Christmas this week.  It’s a little early I know but I have so many cute projects I want to share with you, and I can’t share unless they are done and displayed.  So I get to enjoy the holiday a little longer this year, and I’m ok with that.

Today I’m sharing a simple book page wreath that I jazzed up with some silver paint and rhinestones.

This type of wreath is all over Pinterest, if you are looking for a tutorial there are a million out there.  I wanted the book page look with a twist, something not so common.

Supplies:

  • Cardboard circle for wreath backing
  • Old book you don’t mind cutting up
  • Stapler
  • Scissors
  • Hot Glue
  • Silver Paint (would also look amazing with gold)
  • Embellishment for center

This wreath comes together pretty quite but can be repetitive.  I did the tedious part on my living room floor catching up on The Big Bang Theory.

I started by tearing out a book page and rolling it on an angle to form a cone.  I experimented with a couple different cones and came up with a roll that worked for my wreath.  Then I stapled the cone about an inch from the tip.

After 50 or so of these it was time to dip the tips.  I squirted a good amount of metallic silver paint onto a plate and dipped just the top rim of the cone into the paint.  The tricky part is finding a place for these to dry.  I stuck them various containers so they could dry up right.  I let them dry overnight and assembled my wreath the next morning.

To assemble the wreath I started by spacing out my cones and filling in the gaps symmetrically.  I layered until it was full to my liking, about 3 layers.

After the first 2 layers I snipped the ends off the remaining cones and added the final center layer covering any remaining cardboard that was peeking through.

For the center I used a kraft paper swirl and some adhesive rhinestones.

To hang the wreath I hot glued a piece of burlap to the back and wrapped it around a hook on the back of my mirror.

This mirror is in the center of my mantle and the wreath makes such a statement in the room.  I am hoping to have my mantle and tree finished soon so I can share the whole room with you.
