Simple Wood Burned Ornament

Our Christmas tree is full of colorful, keepsake ornaments this year. I kind of abandoned our usually themed tree and we opted to put up all the ornamnets we love instead.  It’s the perfect tree!  To offset some of the color I have made a few neutral ornaments like this simple wood burned ornament below.

It’s Day 6 and we are sharing DIY Ornament Ideas!

I have made my share of simple wood ornaments, like these neutral twine ornaments and more.  Today I’m sharing how to make a simple wood burned ornament.  I started with small wood slices, the same slices I used to make this cute snowman ornament, and used my wood burning tool to create simple trees and snow.

I use a basic wood burning tool, it’s one I recommend if you are just starting out and not sure how often you will use this tool.  I find I use mine quite a bit, I love the look and depth you get when using this versus paint or vinyl.

Using a basic wood slice I first drilled a hole to add a piece of twine for hanging.  You can find wood slice ornament blanks around Christmas time that already have this step done for you.  Next I drew a design in pencil and then went over it with a wood burning tool.

Be sure to watch the video to see exactly how this is done.

As much as I love looking at the themed trees I always decorate my trees with sentimental ornaments, ones that friend have given to me and those that I have made. I love how your tree comes across so real and personal. The ornaments you created are so special.

Your wood slice ornaments are so pretty and you make it look so simple. I have a wood burning tool and scared to use it. Maybe I'll practice following your tutorial.
