I have been admiring beautiful vintage Christmas scenes under glass cloches lately. I’ve seen bloggers do some amazing things with these pretty glass pieces. I decided this week, on a whim, that I needed a vintage Christmas display under glass to complete my holiday decor. I didn’t have time to go thrifting for a cloche, so instead I headed to my basement and found just want I needed to get the look.

I started with an old glass punch bowl from my husband’s Grandmother and a silver charger. Silver chargers like this can be found at the Dollar Store or most stores in the holiday section.

I found some fake snow in my Christmas bin and used that to create the base. I wanted a little pile of snow to place my Christmas scene in. We all want a white Christmas, it just looks so pretty!

Next, I needed that iconic truck with a tree tied to the top. Seeing this scene makes me feel all warm and cozy. Even though I’ve had fake trees my entire life there is something about this scene that just gives me the warm fuzzies.
I was in Walmart grabbing a few essentials and happened to buzz through the Christmas section just to check it out. This cute little truck with a family inside and tree on top was just waiting for me. It was reasonably priced and the perfect size for my scene. This similar truck and car set would look adorable in a vintage Christmas scene too.

I arranged the truck (which lights up) and a few bottle brush trees on the snow. It’s a simple scene but gets that warm and cozy feeling across. I sprinkled a little snow on top of the truck and trees for a little more wintery effect. Then I completed the look by placing the punch bowl upside down on top of the charger.

I am so happy with the result. An easy vintage Christmas scene that didn’t cost much at all. I love how it looks in my decorated living room.
Like this vintage Christmas scene? Be sure to pin it.

The idea of a pretty scene under glass is just perfect this time of year. I used this same technique to create a snowy scene in a mason jar using Dollar Tree items!

Are you a fan of these scenes under glass? I’d love to hear what kind of display you would set up?
Thanks for visiting!
