When I want to learn a new technique my traditional method is trial and error. I’ve never been great at asking for help….never one to work well in a team. But I do know my limitations. I got a new camera a couple months back and I love it. I’ve made strides playing around with the functions and watching some online videos, but I feel I can do better. Then I stumbled upon Craftsy. This is a worldwide craft community offering online classes on a range of crafty topics. With over two million members and counting, Craftsy has something for just about everyone, in categories ranging from quilting, sewing, knitting, painting, photography, cooking, and more. I decided to try out a photography class called Shoot It. I am loving this. Craftsy courses provide the convenience of a world-class instructor right at home. I signed up for the class and am able to watch it at my convenience. Even better, it is broken down into segments so I can do bits at a time. This is perfect, I did a little during nap, a little at night and plan to finish it up later this week. Between segments I can play around with my camera and test out my new found knowledge. It also allows me to watch a section over-and-over again as needed, so I can see exactly how a technique is carried out, or refer back to the class as needed. I’m looking forward to sharing my new skills on a post next week, hopefully you will be able to see a difference. Want to learn something new? Or master a skill you’ve been working on?
