The new F1 Ultra, released in the Spring of 2024, is a upgrade to the original F1. The F1 is small, lightweight and portable allowing users to take this on the go to craft markets and personalize items on the spot.

The F1 is also a dual laser with a 10W diode and 2W infrared module. It’s a galvo style laser that allows the beam to move on an angle over the engraving surface without the lens moving back a forth like a gantry style laser.

The F series machines are ideal for engraving all kinds of materials at record speeds. Learn more about the original F1 from xTool.

xTool F1 Ultra

The F1 Ultra is an upgrade to the original but maintains many of the same features we love about the first machine. The dual lasers have been upgraded to a 20W diode, vs a 10W, and a 20W fiber which is a new laser type for xTool.

This upgrade allows you to engrave on hundreds of materials and even cut thin metal. Take a look at this full list of compatible materials.

Here are just a few that can be engraved by either laser module.

  • Stainless steel
  • Aluminum
  • Brass
  • Silver
  • Gold
  • Platinum
  • Plastic
  • Acrylic
  • Wood
  • Leather
  • Glass
  • Stone
  • Cork
  • Silicone

Diode vs Fiber laser

A diode laser is the most popular type used in desktop cutting and engraving and is the safest option for home or small business use. A diode preforms best on soft or thin material like wood. Check out the S1, one of my favorite diode lasers.

A fiber laser is ideal for engraving metal. The 20W version in the F1 Ultra is safe to use at home and will engrave all metals and even cut some thin brass. Fiber lasers at much higher power at often used in industrial settings to engrave and cut metal.

Together these two types of lasers will allow you to engrave just about anything at home or for your business.

xTool F1 Ultra features

The dual lasers in the F1 Ultra are the biggest selling point, but this new machine has some other features that make it a really interesting piece.

  • Size The Ultra comes preassembled and ready to use. It measures about 11″ x 14.5″ x 19″ and weighs about 40 pounds. The working area of the standard base plate is 8.6″ square.

There are a few accessories that work with the F1 Ultra and expand your capabilities.

  • Conveyor Watch this video for a look at how to use this accessory. The conveyor allows you to create a small factory in your home, producing hundreds of items in one pass. It also gives you the ability to engrave on long items.
  • Rotary The same RA2 Pro that works with other xTool machines is compatible with the F1 Ultra allowing you to engrave on cylinders like tumblers, glasses, ornaments and rings. Full rotary video.
  • Pedal and/or button make batch processing a breeze
  • Smoke Purifier to filter air and dust coming from your machine.
F1 Ultra conveyor working

Working with the F1 Ultra is easy, that’s a huge selling point for me. Every part of this machine was well thought out and made for a hobbyist or small business owner. We often have more orders and tasks than we do time. Here are a few features that really stand out.

  • Process engraving jobs at speeds up to 10000mm/second. This will vary greatly depend on the project but overall, processing times are much faster for all materials.
  • Camera and framing. Unlike the original F1, the Ultra has both a camera and framing to help you accurately position designs on objects.
  • Touch screen connected to the machine is both your start button and a way to repeat or re run previous jobs. You are also able to use this control to focus the laser.
  • Curve surface engraving without manually adjusting the laser settings
  • XCS software The new 2.0 version allows you to create projects with a lot of detail. It’s a big upgrade from previous versions and is very user friendly.
  • Strong fan built in to the back of the machine to pull smoke out and help you vent outside of through a smoke purifier.
  • Fully enclosed for safety and a sliding cover that is easy to operate and makes your projects easy to access.
  • Emergency stop button gives you peace of mind that if something goes wrong you can stop everything with one button.

F1 Ultra Projects

With this laser, expect to be able to engrave anything you can with a standard diode laser. Here are a few new projects that other xTool machines are not able to do.

F1 Ultra deep engraving on stone

Emboss layered designs on a stone coater, wood, or brass leaving you with realistic looking images.

wax seal deep engraving with F1 Ultra

Deep engraving on metal can help you create a wax seal or detailed jewelry.

engraved water bottles with F1 Ultra

The Ultra is ultra fast, it is appropriately named. Engraving a the blue stainless steel water bottle with the Fiber module took about a minute and the final look is beautiful. You can easily switch between the 2 lasers and engrave coated aluminum tumblers with the diode laser.

Batch processing with the conveyor is a game changer, especially if your business requires production of many of the same item.

Pricing and Bundles

When you are looking at a new machine, always consider a bundle. This is a great way to get accessories and materials included at a discount.
